What Am I Reading?

I am one of the *luckiest people in the world as I have an amazing **Critique Group set up in 2015 through SCBWI by N M Browne who, even though we don't regularly work as a group like we used to, still gives me amazing, professional and supportive feedback on my writing.
[ If you need help with your writing, BTW, I can't recommend N M Browne highly enough.] However, we're not talking about that, we're talking about what I'm reading, which brings me on to mention Sue Wallman, another member of our amazing group.

Sue writes thrillers for ages 11+ and her books are A-Ma-Zing. This one, Dead Popular, is brand new and I finished it in two big, delicious gulps. It's about two Queen Bees in a Boarding School and builds to a huge, dramatic crescendo.

All of Sue's books have won awards, her first, Lying About Last Summer, was in the Zoella Book Club - oh yes, and did I mention that she's my mate!
* If I might just have a little word about my luck...

I really enjoy listening to the Elizabeth Day podcast on How To Fail and on the recent interview she did with Meera Syal they mentioned the Henry Ford quote:
"The harder I work the more luck I have."

Just saying...!

Anyway, read Dead Popular, I did and it's great!

*NB: A critique group is writers who share work with one another for constructive feedback. We're the Kings Cross Criteratti  (as we used to meet monthly in Kings Cross) and are made up of N M Browne, myself, Sue Wallman, A M Dassu (watch out for her new book, Boy Everywhere), Zena Knox (another one to watch - very strong writing), Annie Harris (a wonderful illustrator/writer), and Sarah Day (amazing writer and jewellery creator - her day will come). Our group is full of strong, talented women who love and support one another all the time. We  all work really hard and have been very lucky to find each other.
