Here is the fourth wonderful illustration of my new book, Thirteenth Wish, which is due out in April.

This character is Pip, who enters the story as a heroic knight.

My illustrator is the fantastically gifted, Annie Harris. Annie will be at the launch of the book on 14 May. She will be signing A3 sized prints of the illustrations from the book which will be raffled off on the night. The raffle ticket comes as part of the tickets for the event.

Competition Launch Update

To celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY on Thursday 1 March I will be launching the competition to win tickets to the book launch of Thirteenth Wish.

The launch is to be held on Monday 14 May, 6-7.30pm at Harpenden Library. The Library will be closed to the public and this is an exclusive ticket only event.

To enter the competition you need to contact me via my website with the answer to the following question:
If you had ONE wish what would it be and why?
NB: No unlimited wishes allowed!

Tickets will admit one (+ 1 adult), and can be presented at the event to buy a signed book for just £5 (cover price £8)

What Am I Reading?

Sophia Bennett writes mainly for teen girls, but she has nine books so I'm sure everyone can find something they like.

Her books are really gorgeous and I love dipping into her writing when I need some comfort. Love Song is all about Nina - a 17 year-old who ends up working as a PA to the famous girlfriend of an international pop star/rock God. Nina is off touring Europe with them at the moment - very fun. I love to read a couple of chapters before I go off to sleep.

I was lucky enough to attend a ten-week course at London Uni entitled 'Writing Fiction For Children' that was tutored by Sophia and she has since become a friend.

It is special to have someone like Sophia in my corner and I am inspired by her and her writing.

This is Katie Dale's latest book. I really enjoyed Mumnesia and am hoping that Never-Ending Birthday will be just as fun.

Did you know that Katie, her sister and her mum are all Children's Author's? Both Katie and her mum, Elizabeth Dale, have kindly read Thirteenth Wish and have provided me with a couple of fantastic quotes for the cover.

The cover is still being produced, but I have seen some early proofs and I'm very excited about it.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Katie and maybe Elizabeth will be able to make the book launch.

Cubs Are Cool

Was warmly welcomed to my first every cubs visit this week. Harpenden 9th Cub Pack were great and undeterred by my cough and cold (really hope I didn't infect anyone). They found out how I became a Children's Author, we played the writing game (I challenged someone who was putting pressure on another Cub to roll a 6 and he did!), and we did the 'build a story' workshop. The workshop created some crazy ideas, but it was all inventive and good fun.
Thank you Cubs I enjoyed meeting you all (most of you for a second time) and good luck with all your Cub adventures!
