BBC Sounds is my all-time favourite app so it's amazing that I am part of a podcast on it. I feel this means I can say 'writer for the BBC' on my CV now?!

Catherine Barr

Adding to my wall of famous Children's Authors is Catherine Barr, creator of wonderful books such as Ten Reasons to Love Turtles and The Story of Life.

I was lucky enough to meet Catherine at the SCBWI_BI Masterclass at the weekend where she was spilling the beans on how to be successful in Children's non-fiction.

It was a brilliant event, like all Scooby Dos are!

Fabula Festival 2019

Just returned from my session at the Fabula Festival 2019 at Redbridge Central Library in Ilford, London.

As you can see from the pictures it gave me the opportunity to try out my DIY snakes and ladders story building activity.

The children were great - getting stuck in even though they'd not met me, or each other before.

I also had the chance to see some of the other activities that were going on at the festival, including listening to the great David Litchfield.

I was invited to take part in the festival because of my work on the Catching Words project at the Discover Children's Stories Centre in Stratford.

Harpenden Writers Group

I had a wonderful visit to the Harpenden Writers Group recently. It made a refreshing change to work with adults and hear their own interpretations of my postcard activity. I also tried a new workshop idea to help develop character led narrative. It generated some lovely writing.

I've been asked back next year so I must've done something right!

Fabula Festival

Don't forget that I am appearing at the Fabula Festival on Sunday 13 October 12.30-1.30pm for a Creative Writing Workshop for children aged 7-11 years.

The festival is held in Redbridge, in East London and is a celebration of The Arts and Libraries. This year it falls in National Libraries Week and offers a variety of different talks, workshops, exhibitions and performances.
