While I'm bragging...
What I forgot to say is that my talk at STAGS (dramatic pause) I followed Sarah Crossan! NB: see previous post if you don't know what I am talking about.

I'm not making these up - I promise!
I visited STAGS this morning and received this email (I have checked that it is okay to post it up here): It was excellent to see you again today :) and your presentation was totally amazing - -- your past teacher training really reflected well in your talk. It was seriously engaging and you managed to build up a lovely rapport with the girls in such a short space of time. It was impressive and both the staff and students had great fun throughout the session! Mrs Debbie Johnson Smith BA(hons), PGcertHE, MCIM Marketing Co- ordinator at STAGS Great start today for World Book Day week. In the afternoon I visited High Beeches Primary and did lots of Author High Fives with my Y6 workshop. I have just ordered a new dice as the rolling of it during the game in the assembly proved too much for the poor thing! I'm getting dog name guesses through my competition page and I think there will be a few kids reading Jarred Dreams tonight too. Two schools down, five to go. Let's hope the next ones are as successful as today. Rock on! Just a quick blog to say I am loving all the new dog names that are arriving!
Keep them coming... you have until 1 April. World Book Day is on Thursday 2 March 2017.
During the week of World Book Day I am visiting lots of local schools: Y7 STAGS (St Albans School for Girls), Beech Hyde Primary School, Wheathampstead, St Helen's Primary School, Wheathampstead, Margaret Wix Primary School, St Albans, St Dominics Primary School, Harpenden, and Aboyne Lodge Primary School, St Albans. If you'd like to find out more about my Author Visits, visit my school visits page. It's great where I am staying as there is a wealth of YA novels. I'm now onto the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series which are totally wonderful. Probably suitable for ages 11 up. They are set 6,000 years ago, after the ice age when people lived in Clans and were connected to nature in a spiritual way. The main character, Torak is Wolf Clan and has a wolf companion that he can talk to. Ren, of Raven clan is his best friend. Each book (6 in all) has a quest. Love them.
This is my first Ali Sparks novel.
Lots of kids have recommended The Shapeshifter series to me. I realise I should probably start with the first in the series but I'm going in with number 4 - wish me luck! If you missed me on the radio talking about At Risk by Stella Rimington, you can listen again through the Talking Newspaper site :www.sadtn.org.uk
Talking Newspaper is a great organisation that helps people with sight difficulties to access all kinds of modes of the written word. I am involved only by doing the odd book review for them. Please remember at At Risk is an adult fiction book.
Finished? Not quite. Read my blog tomorrow to find out all about STAGS and the presentation of my precious Gromit.
