My daughter, Sasha, requested that I put her on my blog, so we decided to tell you all what she is reading at the moment instead of me.
She is solidly working her way through the Harry Potter books (currently on Order of the Pheonix) for a second time but she is also reading two of the new Jonny Duddle books (I'm reading them too). The titles are Cave of Doom and Ghostly Galleon and they are from The Jolley-Rogers series. Very good. Very piratey (me hearties!). NAME DROP TIME.... I met Jonny Duddle at the SCWBI conference last year and it turns out he is from the same tiny village in North Wales that my best friend from university comes from. He knows (and grew up with) lots of my very good friends, including Andy Hunt, who did the front cover of Jarred Dreams. I'm fighting the urge to write the cliche...can I hold out....no....can't stop it...here it comes.....'small world'. Sorry. Watch out for another blog post in the future about what Sasha is reading!

Wild horses in Australia - this is just pure escapism. You perhaps need to love horses and description to enjoy it as there really is very little story. Luckily for me I love both and I'm right with Thowra (named after the wind) as he gallops away from the cruel lasso ropes of man. I'm willing the magical silver Brumby stallion to always stay wild and free. Next? I've been asked to review a book for talking radio so I will be reading something that is available on the Calibre Audio Library. If you're a writer with a book on there and would like me to review it get in touch: contact me. I have an article in Life Magazine this month.
This is the magazine that Country Properties produce that comes through your door (if you live in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire). My article is on page 17. For those of you who'd like to have a read - the article is on the link between reading fiction and developing empathy - and don't get Life through your door: click here If that doesn't work... click here then click on Life Magazine (read our latest edition) which is on the right in the middle of the home page, then use the cursor key to take you to the right page. Happy Reading! |
