Linton Book Fest

23/5/2018

It was a great day and I spoke to lots of enthusiastic families about books, which is one of my most favourite things to do. I also got to listen to the inspiring wildlife photographer Martin Leach and learned all about The Children's Eternal Rainforest (after which I promptly when home and donated my fee for appearing at the festival to their amazing conservation project). I was also lucky to see some fellow SCWBI members - featured from left to right - Helen Moss, Joseph Coelho and Chitra Soundar.

My daughter is working on a short film of the book launch, but in the meantime here are some photos of the event.

This is Caitlin who was picking up the books on behalf of her best friend Auj Usman. After winning the 'Name the Dog' competition, Auj rather inconveniently moved to Australia!

The Wish Winners were also there, along with Guest Authors and Ticket Holders.

It was a really memorable launch which I hope everyone enjoyed as much as I did.

The highlight for me was the raffle at the end and having Annie there to sign all the illustrations. The game was fun too.

Thanks to everyone who came along and to the library for hosting - LIBRARIES ROCK!

What Am I Reading?

I've just finished both these books. I know I don't officially review on my blog but OMG - they are both utterly brilliant. I can't believe it has taken me this long to read Mortal Engines (for ages 13+) it is a totally ace futuristic novel about cities on wheels. I can't tell you how gripped I was.
I'm over the moon that I'm on the panel with Jo Cotterill (author of Electrigirl) at The Linton Festival on 19 May because this half comic/half book was completely amazing and I can't wait to meet her. Hope to see you there! (NB: My kitten Bibs, won't be coming I'm afraid!)

Where Am I Next?

If you can't make it to the book launch of Thirteenth Wish (details here: Thirteenth Wish Book Launch) then you can always catch me at The Linton Children's Book Festival on Saturday 19 May.

The Festival is held in the beautiful village of Linton in South Cambridgeshire. The main event runs over two days (Saturday 19 - Sunday 20 May) but there are also a number of 'fringe' activities happening the week before.

The Festival aims to inspire young readers by offering a whole range of activities for children aged 2-12 from story-telling, to workshops, and hands-on crafts. The festival is completely FREE and open to all. It really is a wonderful weekend and I am delighted to be a part of it this year.

I will be appearing as part of an author panel, alongside Andy Shepherd (The Boy Who Grew Dragons), Chris Priestley (Curse of the Werewolf Boy) and Jo Cotterill (A Library of Lemons and Electrigirl). The panel is 'All You Ever Wanted To Know About Being a Children's Author' so it should be a fun, audience led activity. Our bit is at 2.15pm in the main hall and lasts for 45mins, but there's loads of other great stuff going on all over the weekend.

You can find out more, including what other authors and illustrators will be coming, by visiting the festival website:
