All authors (even the celebs) have to spend time, energy and money promoting their books. Promotion is fun but it's really tiring and sometimes can feel like a distraction from what we want to be doing, which is shaping our stories. This summer, as part of my book promotion, I am visiting bookshops. I have been and will be posting details of this on my Instagram and Facebook accounts (@camcauthor). [NB: These are the only platforms I am active on.] I won't update everything here, but just to say that's what I am busy doing and to look out for signed copies of my books in a shop near you.
Happy summer holidays everyone! It's absolutely thrilling to see Call Me Lion in other languages. I'm so happy that Leo and Richa (and Patch of course) are finding their way into the hearts of people all over the world. It is really humbling and reassures me that people have more in common with one another than we think. People feel compassion and we can empathise with one another right across the globe.
For Call Me Lion, I now have editions in Swedish, German, Japanese, English and French. [There may be a couple new editions to add to my amazing collection in the near future too.] The Swedish edition title translates as Star Jumps and Secrets and in Japan the book is entitled Dance Friends. In French it's Shy Like a Lion. It is totally fascinating to work with translators. What an INCREDIBLE job they do. Amazing work. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your wonderful support and letting me continue with what is quite honestly THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD! If you are following me on Instagram (my handle is @camillacauthor) you will have seen my giveaway competition to win a mini Loki, courtesy of Crafty Ponies, and a signed copy of my new book, Project Pony. I announced the winner a few days ago and here is her IG picture of receiving her prizes. It was especially satisfying to know she would be sharing the book with her daughter. Thank you to everyone who took part, and commiserations to those who didn't win.
If you're following me on Instagram (my handle is @camillacauthor) you will see that for the last week I have been running a giveaway competition to win a mini Loki (courtesy of Crafty Ponies) who is the star of Project Pony, along with a signed copy of the book.
If you haven't seen it, you have until midnight tonight (Monday 2 June midnight GMT) to enter. It is completely free, all you need to do is ensure you are following me, like the post and tag three friends. That's it! I will be announcing the winner tomorrow. Good luck! It's all about promotion for the new book, Project Pony at the moment. If you are interested in a promotional visit for your school please get in touch via my contact me page on my website, or via the publisher, Firefly Press.
I will be announcing a creative writing competition very soon with the chance to win your very own Loki, courtesy of Crafty Ponies. I'm absolutely thrilled about the production of this special story. It is the same illustrator as used for Call Me Lion, Irina Avgustinovich and she has done a stunning job. Just wait until you see the flick pages. Ponies, ponies, ponies! You have probably heard the devastating news about the death of Alex Wheatle, aka The Brixton Bard who was due to be part of the stunning line up this weekend. The festival is still going ahead and tickets are still available from the W&A website: www.writersandartists.co.uk
I was rubbish at taking photos this year. If I get sent any pictures from the three wonderful (and very different) schools I visited (Manor Lodge, Grove Juniors and Little Heath) I promise I will post them. I met wonderful children and staff. It is magical to think of them reading my books in the sunshine this weekend!
I do want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who continues to support me. I do not take anything for granted and understand what a huge privilege it is to be able to create books that inspire the next generation of readers and writers. I was lucky enough to be invited as the Y5 author for Writer's Week at the famous SPARK school in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Coombe Hill Juniors. I did a KS2 assembly then workshops with each of the Y5 classes. It was a fabulous school, really warm and welcoming and I could see from the signed walls in their library that I was amongst good company. I'm looking forward to World Book Day week and still have MONDAY available if you're looking for an author visit then please get in touch via my contact me page.
