I've been really enjoying my recent school visits. Yesterday I visited The Grove Junior School, talking to all the Y5 and Y6 students. They created a hat wearing, bruised banana as their hero, that lived in a fruit bowl in perhaps India or The Moon.
The teachers seemed to enjoy the visit too and were chatting about booking me again for September to do some smaller sized workshops to get the kids doing some creative writing - fun, fun, fun. I also visited Kimpton Primary School which was slightly different as I was just with one Y5 class so I could do a writing exercise with them. The teacher whispered in my ear as the class were silently concentrating on their creations that several of the children were resistant to writing so she was very impressed at how motivated they were. Great feedback from all the schools - should update my school visits page I think! If you are interested in booking a school visit I am only charging £25 + expenses until the end of the summer term. In the autumn it goes back to £50. Book me my using my contact page I'm off to visit the Y7s at SJL on Monday - got lots of exciting things planned to do with the older children. Just finished an adult psychological thriller called I Let You Go by Clare Macintosh - five stars and I don't give those out to just any old book!
Dipping my nose into a younger children's book - the first in Mo O'Hara's My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series, as told by my dog in his blog: The Stanley Diaries PLUS I am about to start on a book which has been revamped ready to publish by my amazingly talented KX Critterati (my London critique group) member Nicky Matthews-Browne, which I am very excited to read as she is BRILLIANT. BTW - I do try to review the books I read on Goodreads, but if you are looking for a book reviewer you must visit this site: http://bibliomaniacuk.blogspot.co.uk As Kathryn does really honest and useful reviews and helps you to decide what you might like to read next. I recommend her opinion and her site. |
